We were commissioned by the Department of Infrastructure Development (DID) to assist increase of the efficiency of two provincial laundries in Gauteng through the replacement of obsolete equipment at Johannesburg and Dunswart laundries, valued at R93 million.
Equipment includes continuous batch washers, roller irons, washer extractors and tumble driers.
The installation of state-of-the-art industrial laundry equipment has been a successfully completed and the new equipment has a combined capacity to wash 5100kg of linen per hour and iron up to 3200kg of sheets per hour.
To create a workspace for maintaining an environment suitable for the handling of dirty and clean linen without cross-contamination, the equipment was installed to allow a progressive workflow from ‘dirty’ entry through a decontamination area, to clean storage and exit areas.
Dunswart Laundry, East of Johannesburg services 48 clinics and 12 hospitals including Pholosong, Tambo Memorial and Far East Rand hospitals. Services include washing, ironing, folding, packing and dispatching of linen.
